The age of co-operation beyond competition?

I am officially addicted to this blog.

The Nature of Business

Why is ‘competition’ viewed as a key driver in business behaviour? We so often hear business leaders say that they embrace sustainability or new ways of operating because it provides ‘competitive advantage’.  Is business life all about competition?

‘Competition’ as a word used to mean ‘striving together’ yet now it seems to refer to working against each other, separation and self-interest.

I couldn’t agree more! I love co-operationing and collaborating and finding common ground with competitors. Indeed, many a time I have linked up with a competitor to provide something that alone neither of us could take to market. I think the key to make this work really well is to identify competitors whose values we share. Sadly the ones who don’t share collaborative values who think they need to be ‘competitive’ sometimes act unethically like the one I wrote about recently who copied my idea! It’s all good learning in the end though:)
